Colonial of the Week - GW Men's Basketball's Joe McDonald
Junior Caps Season-High Scoring Effort With Game-Winning Basket at Buzzer
Sport: Men's Basketball
Hometown: Lorton, Va.
High School: Landon School
McDonald capped a game- and season-high 19-point performance with a game-winning, buzzer-beating put-back bucket to lift GW men's basketball to a 65-64 victory over Dayton on Friday.
McDonald made 8-of-13 shots, including 3-of-7 behind the arc, and added four rebounds, two assists and two steals in 39 minutes against the Flyers. He scored four of GW's nine points in the extra session, highlighted by the deciding basket as time expired to keep the Colonials a perfect 10-0 at the Charles E. Smith Center this season.
The finish appeared at No. 5 on Friday night's ESPN SportsCenter Top 10 Plays, marking GW's fourth appearance in the #SCTop10 in the past 46 days by four different players.
McDonald has scored in double figures in seven of his last nine games and is second on the team in scoring through 10 A-10 games at 11.6 points per game.
