OVERLAND PARK, KS -- George Washington University senior T.J. Thompson (Germantown, MD) has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 4 First Team. He is one of 150 men's basketball student-athletes nationwide to be selected from 15 districts. It marks his second straight year on an NABC All-District team.
Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, the 150 student-athletes represent the finest players in the country. These 150 student-athletes are now eligible for the NABC Division I All-American Team to be announced at the conclusion of the 2004-05 NCAA men's basketball season.
A 5-foot-10 guard, Thompson leads the Colonials in scoring with 14.3 points per game and has converted a team-high 58 three-point field goals.
For his career, Thompson has appeared in all 108 games--while starting 103--in the last three-plus seasons. Thompson has scored 1,334 career points and has 467 career assists. He is just 11 three-point FGs shy of becoming GW's all-time leader in career threes with 224.
A 2002 Atlantic 10 Conference All-Rookie Team selection as a freshman, Thompson was a preseason A-10 All-Conference First Team selection this year and was named the MVP of the 2004 BB&T Classic last December.
GW (16-5, 8-3 A-10) is in first place in the A-10's West Division. The Colonials next host Duquesne (6-18, 3-8 A-10) Saturday, Feb. 19, in a 2:00 p.m. game at Smith Center.
