WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University junior T.J. Thompson (Germantown, MD/Newport School) has been named has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 4 second team. He is one of 150 men's basketball student-athletes nationwide to be selected from 15 districts.
Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, the 150 student-athletes represent the finest players in the country. These 150 student-athletes are now eligible for the NABC Division I All-American Team to be announced at the conclusion of the 2003-04 NCAA men's basketball season.
A 5-foot-10 guard, Thompson leads the Colonials in scoring with 14.6 points per game and has converted a team-high 55 three-point field goals. Thompson has started all 80 games in the last two-plus seasons has 974 career points and 373 career assists.
A 2002 Atlantic 10 Conference All-Rookie Team selection as a freshman, Thompson most recent heroics included scoring the game-winning layup with less than two seconds remaining in GW's 66-64 victory over Dayton Feb. 18 at Smith Center.
GW (15-8, 9-3 A-10) next plays at Duquesne (9-14, 4-8 A-10) Saturday, Feb. 21, in a 4:00 p.m. game at the Palumbo Center in Pittsburgh, PA.
