Elliott, Rice, Hollis Named to A-10 All-Conference Teams

March 5, 2007

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- George Washington University had three players named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference teams, the league office announced Monday. Senior Carl Elliott and junior Maureece Rice have been named to the A-10 All-Conference third team while freshman Damian Hollis was voted to the Conference's Rookie Team. Elliott also was voted to the All-Defensive Team by the league's coaches.

Elliott leads the league in both assists (146) and steals (73) ranking second on the GW career lists in both categories. Elliott also has the distinction of having played in more Colonials' victories (87) than any other player in GW's 93 seasons of varsity basketball. Elliott ranks 25th on GW's all-time scoring list with 1,205 points and recorded the program's first triple-double on Feb. 17 when he scored 17 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and handed out 10 assists in GW's 84-72 victory over Temple.

Rice was recently named to the NABC All-District 4 Second Team placing him among 150 All-District selections who represent the finest players in the country. A 6-foot-1 combo guard, Rice leads the Colonials in scoring with 16.1 points per game and has converted the most three-pointers (57). He also is the Colonials' third-best free throw shooter at .722 (65-90).

Hollis is a two-time A-10 Rookie of the Week selection who averages 5.4 points and leads GW in three-point FG percentage at .488 (12-of-43).

George Washington (20-8, 11-5 A-10) is the No. 3 seed in the 12-team A-10 Tournament, March 7-10, in Atlantic City, NJ. The Colonials will face the winner of the Saint Joseph's-Temple game on Thursday at 9:05 p.m. from Boardwalk Hall. That game can be heard on Washington Post radio 107.7 FM and 1500 AM as well as on www.GWsports.com.
