Thursday's Quarterfinal Game: Defending A-10 champion GW enters Thursday's quarterfinal round of the 2005 A-10 Tournament looking for its second straight A-10 Tournament championship. This marks the third straight year GW has earned a first-round bye in the conference tournament. GW trails the series with Temple, 15-45, but defeated the Owls in last year's A-10 semifinal, 77-58.
Riding one of the nation's longest winning streaks at 18 straight, the No. 6/6 Colonials (26-1, 16-0 A-10) are having a historic year and the best season in the 92-season history of the program.
GW is coming off a dramatic 86-85 overtime victory over Charlotte (Mar. 4) to cap a perfect 16-0 A-10 record, marking only the fourth time in the 30-year history of the conference a team has gone undefeated in league play. GW is the only one-loss team left in Division I.
GW's win Saturday also extended GW's single-season record for most victories with 26, shattering the previous record of 24 which has been accomplished twice before (1953-54 and 1997-98). GW clinched its second straight A-10 regular-season title and No. 1 seed in the A-10 Tournament with a 78-67 victory over Fordham Feb. 25 at Rose Hill Gym.
GW has a 10-16 (.385) record in A-10 Tournament quarterfinal-round games and a 3-7 (.300) mark in semifinal games. GW is 1-2 in championship final games.

GW has reached the semifinal round eight times including six of the last 10 tournaments.
