GW Men's Hoops Alum Joe Dooley Named Head Coach at FGCU
Former Colonials' Guard Spent Previous 10 Years as Assistant Coach at Kansas

George Washington alumnus and four-year men's basketball letterwinner Joe Dooley ('88) has been named the next head coach at Florida Gulf Coast University.
FGCU announced its decision on Wednesday and Dooley will be formally introduced on Monday afternoon.
A 1988 graduate of GW with a bachelor's degree in speech communications, Dooley spent the last 10 seasons as an assistant coach at Kansas, helping the Jayhawks to 300 victories, nine straight Big 12 regular season titles, six Big 12 Tournament championships, six NCAA Sweet 16s, five NCAA Elite Eight appearances and two Final Fours, including the 2008 National Championship. In total, he has 25 years of coaching experience as both an assistant and head coach.
Dooley lettered all four years at GW from 1984-88, averaging 5.8 points and 16.6 minutes over 100 career games. He started 45 times during his final two seasons and was elected a team captain as a senior.
