Men’s Basketball to Play in Tip-Off Tournament at Mohegan Sun
The field includes Michigan, South Carolina and Providence
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The GW men’s basketball team is set to take part in the 2018 Tip-Off Tournament at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Tuesday. The Colonials are among eight schools competing in two four-team brackets with campus round games leading up to the Mohegan Sun Arena contests.
GW is headlining the event along with Michigan, South Carolina and Providence. The Colonials will host games at Charles E. Smith Center against Stony Brook on Tuesday, Nov. 6, which serves as the season opener, followed by Siena on Thursday, Nov. 8.
At Mohegan Sun, GW will get a shot at the 2018 national runners-up Wolverines on Saturday, Nov. 17, then face either South Carolina or Providence the next day.
“We’re excited to be part of such a prestigious field in the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament at Mohegan Sun,” said head coach Maurice Joseph. “We’ve always prided ourselves on playing a difficult non-conference slate and this will provide us a great test early in the season.”
Game times and television details will be announced at a later date. For ticket information, call the Smith Center box office at 202-99-GWTIX or email Tickets@gwu.edu.
