GW Men's Hoops to Host Maine for First Time on Nov. 12
Coach Lonergan Faces Familiar Foe as Black Bears Visit Smith Center
June 28, 2013
George Washington men's basketball will face Maine for the first time in the second game of the 2013-14 regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at the Charles E. Smith Center.
After opening the program's 100th season on Friday, Nov. 8 with a first-ever meeting against Radford, GW will welcome a second consecutive first-time opponent to the new Tex Silverman Court four days later with Maine's visit to the district.
While it will be the first-ever meeting between the Colonials and Black Bears, GW head coach Mike Lonergan will face Maine for the 13th time after posting a 9-3 mark as America East rivals during his six-year tenure at Vermont from 2005-11.
Maine enters its 10th season under head coach Ted Woodward, who has posted a 111-155 record since 2004-05 after taking over for current La Salle head coach John Giannini. The Black Bears, who joined the Colonials as two of four NCAA Division I teams to start at least four foreign-born players last season, are slated to return two starters from a team that finished 11-19 overall and 6-10 in the America East in 2012-13.
Be sure to check back to GWsports.com each day until the release of season tickets on July 8 as a new men's basketball non-conference event is announced and broken down by Coach Lonergan.
