GW Alumni in Southern California will be able to Raise High this Thanksgiving when the George Washington men's basketball team plays three games in the 2013 Wooden Legacy in Orange County.
With approximately 5,000 combined alumni in Los Angeles and Orange County, 2,000 in nearby San Diego and another 4,000 up the coast in the Bay Area, Orange County will be covered in Buff and Blue as the Colonials compete against arguably one of the toughest multi-team event fields in college basketball next season.
Arizona State, Cal State Fullerton, College of Charleston, Creighton, Marquette, Miami (Fla.) and San Diego State will comprise the new Wooden Legacy, which combines the former Wooden and Anaheim Classics into one event. Six of those teams reached the postseason and won at least 22 games in 2012-13, with Creighton, Marquette, Miami and San Diego State all advancing to the third round of the 2013 NCAA Tournament. The Wooden Legacy's full bracket with opponents and game times will be announced later this month or in August.
The event's first two rounds will be held at Fullerton's Titan Gym on Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29, while the final round will be held at Anaheim's Honda Center on Sunday, Dec. 1. All of the event's 12 contests will be televised on the ESPN networks.
Any fans interested in reserving tickets can do so with the GW Athletics Box Office by filling out the form here. For fans seeking complete travel accomodations, please visit the Wooden Legacy's official partner at AnthonyTravel.com/WoodenLegacy.
It will mark GW's second visit to California in the past three seasons after playing at Cal in the 2011 CBE Classic. The Colonials also competed in the 2006 Wooden Classic at the Honda Center, and played at then No. 1 UCLA in 2007.
