GW Men's Hoops Seeks Continued Success Against Boston Univ. on Dec. 11
Colonials Host Terriers at Smith Center for Eighth Meeting in Past Nine Seasons
July 1, 2013
George Washington men's basketball will battle with Boston University for the eighth time in the past nine seasons when it welcomes the Terriers to the Charles E. Smith Center on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
The Colonials improved to 18-2 all-time against the Terriers with a 72-59 victory at Case Gym in Boston last November. The contest was a breakout game for then freshman guard Joe McDonald, who scored a game-high 21 points and added seven rebounds in his second collegiate game to earn a share of Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors.
GW trailed for all of 22 seconds in that meeting thanks to the play of McDonald and forward Isaiah Armwood, who blocked a career-high eight shots and grabbed 12 rebounds in his second game in the Buff and Blue. Last year's victory also moved GW Coach Mike Lonergan to 10-5 all-time against BU after going 9-5 during his six-year tenure at Vermont.
Boston University competed in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) after posting a 17-13 overall record and 11-5 mark in its final season in the America East in 2012-13. The Terriers, who make their debut in the Patriot League in 2013-14, return all of their starters and key contributors from last season for head coach Joe Jones' third season, led by the backcourt duo of D.J. Irving and Maurice Watson Jr.
Be sure to check back to GWsports.com each day until the release of season tickets on July 8 as a new men's basketball non-conference event is announced and broken down by Coach Lonergan.
