July 2, 2012
Watch the video, then visit Facebook.com/GWsports and answer today's trivia question for the chance to win a great prize for the 2012-13 GW Men's Basketball season!
Fans will get their first look at the 2012-13 George Washington men's basketball team with an exhibition against Catholic University on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Charles E. Smith Center.
The exhibition contest will match second-year GW head coach Mike Lonergan against his alma mater and the program with which he broke into the head coaching ranks in CUA. Coach Lonergan posted 251 victories, including a NCAA Division III National Championship in 2001, and a .740 winning percentage in 12 seasons as head coach of the Cardinals from 1992-2004. Coach Lonergan will also face a former protégé in Catholic head coach Steve Howes, who played for Lonergan from 1993-95 and served two separate stints as an assistant coach under Lonergan from 1998-2000 and 2001-04.
The exhibition contest pits two former district and Division I rivals who last met in regular-season play in 1983 with GW posting a 117-73 victory.
Catholic, which has played Notre Dame and Florida in exhibition contests in each of the past two seasons, is coming off a 19-9 campaign and an appearance in the ECAC South Championship title game in 2011-12. CUA is expected to return four starters and four of its top five scorers from last year's team, including leading scorers Shawn Holmes (14.7 ppg) and Steve Limberiou (13.6 ppg), as well as Billy Donovan, the son of Florida head coach Billy Donovan.
Be sure to check back to GWsports.com each day until July 15 as a new men's basketball non-conference opponent and game date is announced.

Prizes include an annual subscription to GW All-Access, two Colonials Club passes for the men's basketball team's home opener, or men's basketball endzone season tickets.
