George Washington men's basketball alumnus Tony Taylor ('12) has been named to NBA Summer League rosters for both the two-time defending NBA champion Miami Heat and Oklahoma City Thunder.
He was also named to Oklahoma City's roster for the Orlando Summer League, to be played July 7-12 on the Magic's practice court inside the Amway Center, on Friday. A full Orlando Summer League schedule can be found here.
After graduating from GW in May 2012, Taylor was selected 32nd overall by the Tulsa 66ers in November's NBA Development League Draft. He then played all 50 regular-season games for the Oklahoma City Thunder's D-League affiliate, averaging 7.0 points, 3.2 assists and 22.6 minutes to earn All-Rookie Third Team honors in April.
In five D-League playoff starts against the Canton Charge and eventual champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Taylor increased his contributions to 11.2 points on 54 percent shooting, 5.4 assists and 2.0 rebounds in 32 minutes per game. He recorded his first double-double in the 66ers' finale against the Vipers in Game 2, scoring 12 points and dishing out an NBA D-League playoff-high 12 assists.
Taylor closed his four-year career at GW ranked fourth all-time in program history in assists (486), 10th all-time in steals (130) and 19th all-time in points (1,345).
