GW Men's Hoops to Ring in New Year on Dec. 31 at Kansas State
Colonials, Wildcats Close Three-Game Series in Little Apple on New Year's Eve
July 7, 2013
George Washington men's basketball will close out 2013 in the Little Apple - Manhattan, Kan. - with a marquee non-conference road test against the Kansas State Wildcats at Bramlage Coliseum on Tuesday, Dec. 31.
The contest marks the third meeting in as many seasons between the Colonials and Wildcats. GW dropped a 69-56 decision at The Octagon in Dec. 2011, then narrowly fell to K-State, 65-62, in front of a frenzied, raucous crowd and national television audience at the Charles E. Smith Center last December.
The trip to Manhattan will be a homecoming of sorts for rising sophomore guard Joe McDonald, who was born in Fort Riley, Kan., about 10 miles from the KSU campus.
K-State went 27-8 overall and won a share of the Big XII regular-season title with a 14-4 mark in its first season under coach Bruce Weber in 2012-13. The Wildcats, who posted a 15-1 record at Bramlage last season, lost their top two scorers in Rodney McGruder and Angel Rodriguez, but return 10 players led by Shane Southwell, Thomas Gipson and Will Spradling.
Be sure to check back to GWsports.com each day until the release of season tickets on July 8 as a new men's basketball non-conference event is announced and broken down by Coach Mike Lonergan.
