The George Washington men's basketball team will conclude the opening month of the 2012-13 season with a return game at James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va., on Wednesday, Nov. 28.
The Colonials and Dukes met in the district last December, a game in which the hosts nearly erased a 22-point deficit. David Pellom scored 22 points to help GW climb within four with a 21-3 run late in the second half, but JMU held on for a 62-57 victory at the Smith Center.
Despite the loss - which snapped the Colonials' five-game series winning streak - GW maintains a 6-2 advantage in the all-time series which began in 1974.
JMU will return four starters and three of its top four scorers from last season's team that finished 12-20 overall and 5-13 in the Colonial Athletic Association. Leading scorer A.J. Davis (15.9 ppg), forward Andrey Semenov (10.2 ppg) and guard Devon Moore (8.8 ppg) headline the list of the Dukes' key returners, and head coach Matt Brady has added four newcomers, including Dimitrije Cabarkapa, who shares the same hometown as GW rising junior forward Nemanja Mikic.
The GW/JMU matchup features the only NCAA Division I series between universities named after former Presidents of the United States - George Washington, our nation's first President from 1789-1797, and James Madison, the fourth POTUS from 1809-1817.
After checking in and watching Coach Lonergan's daily game breakdown, fans can visit Facebook.com/GWsports and answer a trivia question for a chance to be entered in a grand prize giveaway at the conclusion of the non-conference schedule announcements.
