Be sure to check back to GWsports.com each day until July 15 as a new men's basketball non-conference opponent and game date is announced.
The GW men's basketball team wraps its 2012-13 non-conference schedule in Athens, Ga., against the Georgia Bulldogs on Jan. 4, 2013 in Stegeman Coliseum.
The game will mark the Colonials fourth opponent from a power conference in 2012-13 following visits to the Big East's Notre Dame (Nov. 21) and Rutgers (Dec. 11) sandwiched around the Kansas State Wildcats' visit to the district on Dec. 8.
Last season, Georgia finished 15-17 overall, but with an 11-6 record in front of an average of 7,079 fans inside Stegeman Coliseum. Wins over Notre Dame, Tennessee and Florida punctuated UGA's 2011-12 campaign, and the Bulldogs have reloaded for this season with an incoming class of four heralded freshmen, who like their GW counterparts will have the opportunity to gel with upperclassmen teammates on a foreign tour of Italy this summer.
Returning lettermen Donte' Williams (7.8 ppg) and Nemanja Djurisic (7.0 ppg) will help lead Georgia in 2012-13, while last season's second-leading scorer and freshman All-SEC member Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (13.2 ppg) figures to be a focal point of the Dawgs' offense.
Head coach Mark Fox has compiled a 50-46 record in three seasons at Georgia following a five-year run at Nevada that included a 123-43 mark and four straight regular season WAC titles from 2005-08.
After checking in and watching Coach Lonergan's daily game breakdown, fans can visit Facebook.com/GWsports and answer a trivia question for a chance to be entered in a grand prize giveaway at the conclusion of the non-conference schedule announcements. Prizes include an annual subscription to GW All-Access, two Colonials Club passes for the men's basketball team's home opener, or men's basketball endzone season tickets.
