NOVI SAD, Serbia -- George Washington rising sophomore Damian Hollis (Ft. Lauderdale, FL/J.P. Taravella) appeared in six of the tournament's nine games and scored 23 points (3.8 ppg) for USA Basketball's U19 Men's Championship Team July 12-22 in Novi Sad, Serbia.

Hollis converted a total of 9-16 FGs (.563), 2-4 from three-point range with seven rebounds, three steals and a block in 52 total minutes of action. He appeared in games against Mali, China, Serbia (twice), Brazil and Argentina.

Hollis made his only field goal attempt, a three-pointer, in the USA's 74-69 loss to host Serbia in the gold medal game July 22 in Novi Sad. Colonials head coach Karl Hobbs served as an assistant coach for the squad which posted an 8-1 record en route to the silver medal.

A member of the 2007 Atlantic 10 Conference All-Rookie Team, Hollis averaged 5.2 points and 3.0 rebounds per game as a freshman in 2006-07. The 6-8 guard converted better than 50 percent of his shots from the field including 22-of-50 (.440) from three-point range. He appeared in all 32 games for the Colonials while starting six games and was twice named the A-10's Rookie of the Week last season.

France (6-3) took the bronze medal with a 75-67 victory over Brazil (4-5). The U.S. now owns a 53-11 record in all-time FIBA U19 World Championship play, as well as a record three gold medals (1979, 1983, 1991) and three silvers (1987, 1999, 2007) in eight U19 Worlds.

The 2007 USA squad is comprised of men 19-years-old or younger (born on or after Jan. 1, 1988) who are citizens of the United States. Athlete selections for the Trials were made by the USA Basketball Men's Collegiate Committee, chaired by USA Senior National Team assistant and Syracuse University head coach Jim Boeheim.

In 2006-07, George Washington posted a 23-9 record, a third consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament and the school's second A-10 Tournament championship in the past three years. Holding opponents to just 52.3 points per game during the A-10 Tournament, the Colonials entered the 2007 NCAA Tournament riding an eight-game win streak before falling to Vanderbilt.
