Sunday's Game: GW (0-0) faces UNC Wilmington (0-1) in the season opener for GW but the second game of the season for UNCW. The Seahawks are coming off a 79-68 loss to Appalachian State Friday at Boone, NC. UNCW's John Fields led all players with 21 points.

• Today's game marks a rematch of the thrilling 2006 NCAA Tournament first-rd. game when the Colonials defeated the Seahawks, 88-85 in overtime, at Greensboro Coliseum.

• GW is 6-2 in season openers under Karl Hobbs and 4-2 when opening on the road or at a neutral site.

• GW has won its last four season openers. The last time GW lost an opener was on Nov. 17, 2004 at No. 2-ranked Wake Forest, coached by the late Skip Prosser, in the Preseason NIT at Winston-Salem, NC.

• GW is picked to finish 13th in the 14-team Atlantic 10 Conference in the league's Preseason Coaches' and Media Poll announced Oct. 22.

• UNC Wilmington posted a 7-25 overall record, 3-16 in the CAA, last year and are picked to finish 12th in the 12-team CAA preseason poll.

• Like GW, the Seahawks have overhauled their roster by adding several new players. Seven newcomers dot the Seahawk roster, while GW has added six freshmen.

A Closer Look at UNC Wilmington: The Seahawks, under fourth-year coach Benny Moss, return three Seahawks who averaged double figure points last season led by Chad Tomko's 15.6 ppg. Tomko recently suffered a stress fracture that may keep him sidelined for Sunday's game. Stepping in for Tomko will be Xavier transfer Johnny Wolf who averaged 13.9 points with 64 threes for the Seahawks last season. Six-foot-7 junior Dominique Lacy led the Seahawks in rebounding with 5.9 rpg and averaged 10.4 ppg. UNC Wilmington is coming off a 7-25 overall record, 3-16 in the CAA, last year and are picked to finish 12th in the 12-team CAA preseason poll. UNCW has seven new players on its roster. In its season-opener Friday at Appalachian St., UNCW shot 39.7 percent from the field, including 3-16 (18.8%) from three-point range, in a 79-68 loss. the Seahawks were outrebounded, 32-24, by ASU and committed 15 turnovers in the contest.
