Tonight's Game: No. 19/20 George Washington (6-0) plays its first
true road game of the season tonight at Morgan State (0-8) in the
third meeting between the teams. GW won both previous meetings by an
average of 36 points.
GW is 6-0 for the first time since opening the 1992-93 season 7-0. That season, GW finished with a 21-9 record and an appearance in the 1993 "Sweet 16," the Colonials' furthest advance in the NCAA Tournament.
Morgan State is coming off a 73-47 loss to Navy on Thursday at home. Timothy Mathis led the Bears with 11 points and Andrew Lee had a team-high four rebounds.
GW is coming off a 70-45 victory over Florida International also on Thursday night at Smith Center. The Colonials held FIU to 30.9 percent shooting and outrebounded the Panthers, 44-35.
GW has forced a total of 131 turnovers in its first six games while committing just 88 miscues for a turnover margin of +7.2.
GW remained at No. 19 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 Poll (released Dec. 5) for the second straight week while jumping two spots to No. 20 in the ESPN Coaches' Poll.
Next Game: GW returns to Smith Center to host Maryland-Eastern Shore (2-6) this Saturday at 2:00 pm (EST). The game will be the second half of a women's/men's doubleheader following the GW Women's game against Maine at noon. The game will not be televised but will air live in the Washington area on WMET 1160, WAGE 1200 AM as well as via www.GWsports.com.
