Basketball's Ricky Lucas Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

Freshman Guard Shot 54 Percent Last Week

WASHINGTON, DC - Freshman Ricky Lucas (Herndon, VA/Herndon) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for men's basketball the league office has announced. It marks Lucas's first Atlantic 10 weekly award of his career.

The 6-foot-4 shooting guard converted 4-7 (.538) from the field in GW's two games last week. He equalled his season-high scoring output with 11 points on 3-5 three-point FGs, 2-2 FTs and a pair of steals in GW's 76-57 victory over Towson at Smith Center on Dec. 10.

He scored nine points with six rebounds against then-No. 17 Gonzaga in the championship game of the BB&T Classic on Dec. 7 at MCI Center.

Lucas's statistics for the week: two games, 20 points on 7-13 FGs (.538), 4-7 3Pt. FGs (.571), 2-2 FTs, eight rebounds and three steals in 35 total minutes.

GW (6-2) next travels to Old Dominion Saturday, Dec. 20 for a 7 p.m. game at ODU's Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk, VA. The game will air live on WAGE AM 1200 and WMET AM 1150 and via GW's official athletic website: www.GWsports.com.
