Saturday's Game: George Washington (6-2) and Vermont (6-3) meet for the first time Saturday night in the 45th Annual Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic.

• Saturday's game is the second of a four-game road trip that began at Sacramento State on Tuesday and continues in Honolulu for three games in the Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic hosted by the University of Hawai'i.

• GW is coming off a 59-47 victory over Sacramento State last Tuesday in Sacramento. Senior Rob Diggs led the Colonials with a game-high 14 points on 5-6 FGs, 4-4 from the free throw line and soph. C Joseph Katuka recorded his first career double-double.

• GW is 2-1 on the road this season and is 40-50 (.444) away from home in seven-plus seasons under Karl Hobbs.

• Vermont is coming off a 84-79 road victory at Quinnipiac on Dec. 21. UVM is the fourth America East team GW has faced this season (Boston U., Binghamton, UMBC).

• The Catamounts are 2-2 on the road this season and tonight's contest is UVM's first neutral-site game of the year.

• The Catamounts were picked to finish 2nd in the 9-team America East Conference in the league's preseason coaches and media poll released Oct. 27. Both junior Marqus Blakely and senior Mike Trimboli were named to the AE preseason All-Conference team in the same poll.

• GW has won 60 of its last 88 regular-season games and 32 of its last 48 A-10 games.

A Closer Look at Vermont: A school of 9,454 students, Vermont is located in Burlington and is a member of the America East Conference. Under fourth-year head coach Mike Lonergan, UVM is picked to finish 2nd (four first-place votes) in the 9-team America East in the preseason coaches and media poll released Oct. 27. Lonergan is no stranger to the DC hoops scene having coached Catholic for 12 seasons including the 2001 Div. III national championship team and also spent the 2004-05 season as an assistant at Maryland. UVM is led by 6-5 junior F Marqus Blakely's 17 points per game (8.9 rpg, 30 blks.) and senior G Mike Trimboli's 16.3 points (5.4 assists per game). The Cats are 2-2 on the road this season with victories at Delaware (78-63) and at Quinnipiac (84-79). As a team, Vermont is shooting 48 pct. from the field, 41 pct. from 3-point range and 73 pct. from the FT line. Through nine games, UVM is outscoring its opponents by 5.1 ppg but is getting outrebounded by three caroms a game and is also in the red in turnover margin (-1.2).

Next Game: GW will face either Colorado State or host Hawai'i on Monday in its second game of the Rainbow Classic. All three games in the Classic will be broadcast live on the GW student radio station, WRGW, via the Internet at www.GWradio.com.
