Co-Captain ... Led the team in rounds played (30.5) and tied for second-lowest stroke average (75.4) last season. Matched his career-low 70 in the second round of the A-10 Championship. Had two Top-10 finishes as a junior including a runner-up showing in the GW Invitational with a one-over-par 181. Sturdy's play as a freshman was vital in the Colonials advancing to the NCAA Tournament. He shot 78-70 to finish 9th at Princeton, a 71-70 to finish third at Navy, and his final-round 75 in the rain helped the Colonials sew up an NCAA Tournament bid for the first time in 60 years. As a sophomore he led the team in rounds played with 32 and placed sixth at the Navy Spring Invitational and 14th at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational.
As a sophomore, he became one of the Colonials' top players. He finished 7th at the Rehoboth Beach Invitational shooting 72-74 and leading the Colonials to a victory. Sturdy's 72 at the Joe Agee Classic was a part of the Colonials season low 282 final round score. The 282 is the Colonials third best score ever. He also added a 72 at the Penn/Big 5 Classic and a 73 in the team's spring break dual match at the University of New Orleans.
Junior, High School & Amateur Golf:
Sturdy has represented his county, Kent, at the Under 16, Under 18 and Under 21 levels with much success. In April of 2005, he was one a select few prep school players chosen to play on the Swift Tour for England against several of the top Prep schools in the U.S. on several of the top golf courses on the east coast, including Pine Valley. In August of the same year, Sturdy qualified for the British Boy's Championship and lost in match play on the 18th hole. In 2006 Sturdy advanced to match play in the English Amateur and the Kent Amateur.
