TUCSON, Ariz. - Junior Jack Persons carded a season-low 1-over par 72 in the second round and paced GW golf on Day 1 of the Arizona Intercollegiate on Monday.

Persons is tied for 32nd place out of 83 players after 36 holes with an 8-over 150 (78-72). Persons made seven birdies during Monday's two rounds - tied for 11th-best in the field - including four birdies during his second round 72 on the par-71, 7,232-yard Sewailo Golf Club layout.

GW is in 14th place at 56-over 624 (318-306). No. 24 USC totaled a 4-under 564 and holds a two-shot lead over No. 3 California, while the Trojans' Anthony Paolucci fired a 7-under 135 and leads the Golden Bears' Brandon Hagy by two shots. Freshman Michael Heda is tied for 50th at 11-over 153 after rounds of 76 and 77.

Sophomore Michael Helton is tied for 71st at 17-over 159 (81-78), freshman Lucas Farmer is in 80th after a 22-over 164 (85-79) and senior Graham Lawyer is tied for 81st at 23-over 165 (83-82).

 

 

The final round begins at 11 a.m. ET on Tuesday.
