Golf Struggles at Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD, SC -- George Washington's Juan Pablo Zuluaga was the low Colonial with a three-round 237 at the at the second-annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate Golf Tournament, Monday and Tuesday. The 54-hole event, hosted by Francis Marion University, was held at the par-72, 6,752-yard Wexford Plantation course.

The Colonials placed 15th in the 15-team tournament with a 961 (+97). Tennessee-Chattanooga won the event with a team total 897 (+33), three strokes ahead of runner-up Marquette (900, +36).

GW senior Raman Luthra had the lowest single round for the Colonials when he fired a three-over-par 75 in Monday's opening round en route to a 243. Luthra's total tied GW sophomore Lewis Sturdy who also carded a 243 (79-82-82). Both golfers tied for 61st place in the 78-player field.

Marquette's Mike Van Sickle was the medalist with a three-under 213 that included a second-round 69. Van Sickle was the only individual to finish under par for the tournament.

The Colonials next play Mar. 16 against the University of New Orleans at the TPC of Louisiana in New Orleans.
