Golf Takes Fourth at Hargrove B. Davis Spring Classic

BUIES CREEK, NC -- The George Washington golf team placed fourth in the 15-team field at the Hargrove B. Davis Spring Classic, Monday and Tuesday, at the 6,703-yard, par-72 Keith Hills Country Club. The tournament was won by host Campbell University. The Colonials have a string of 12 straight Top 5 finishes dating back to last season.

Domingo Jojola of San Francisco won medalist honors with an even-par 216 following Tuesday's 2-over 74. GW's Brian Carroll (Crystal Lake, IL), who shot the tournament's low round of 67 on Monday afternoon, was the runner-up at two-over-par 218.

The Camels, who shot the day's low round of 300 to recover from a six-stroke deficit heading into the final 18 holes. Campbell ended the 54-hole tournament at 902 strokes, as did runner-up Liberty and the Camels won a four-hole play-off for the team title. Elon was third (913), followed by George Washington (915) and San Francisco (918).

GW junior Raman Luthra (East Amherst, NY) tied for 23rd with a 231 while freshman Lewis Study (Keston, Kent, England) tied for 28th with a three-round 232.

The Colonials' next competition is Mar. 14 when they meet Cleveland St., Utah St and Youngstown St. at Mesquite, NV.
