GW Golf Takes Home Sixth at Triumph at Pauma Valley

– The George Washington golf team shot a 26-over par 310 in the third and final round of the Triumph at Pauma Valley on Tuesday to finish sixth with a 54-hole score of 76-over 928.

Host San Francisco, which led the nine-team field after Round 2, claimed first with a three-day score of 9-over 861 at the par-71, 7,077-yard Pauma Valley Country Club. BYU finished in second place with an 11-over 863 and UC Riverside totaled a 50-over 902 to finish third. British Columbia finished fourth with a 56-over 908, followed by Bowling Green in fifth with a 64-over 916. Army trailed GW in seventh with an 84-over 936, Manitoba finished in eighth place with an 88-over 940 and Dominican (Calif.) rounded out the field in ninth with a 91-over 943.

BYU’s Justin Keiley claimed medalist honors and led all 52 players with a 1-under 212. Sophomore Jack Persons was the top Colonials’ finisher throughout the two-day event as he shot a 5-over 76 on Tuesday to finish with a three-round score of 10-over 223 in a three-way tie for 11th.

Freshman Steve Piela carded a 4-over 75 in Round 3 and finished in a tie for 16th with a combined score of 14-over 227. Freshman Jonathan Dresnick finished in 37th after shooting an 8-over 79 on Tuesday for a 54-hole score of 25-over 238, and junior Graham Lawyer tied for 40th with a 28-over 241 after carding a 10-over 81 in Round 3.



GW returns to action on Monday, April 1, at the Keith Hills Spring Intercollegiate at Keith Hills Country Club in Buies Creek, N.C.
