Golf Places 15th at University of San Diego Invitational

RANCHO SANTA FE, CA - GW's Brian Carroll (Crystal Lake, IL/Crystal Lake South) fired a 87-76-78-241 to tie for 48th in the 16th Annual USD Invitational Monday-Tuesday at the par-72, 6,950-yard Del Mar Country Club in Rancho Santa Fe, CA. The Colonials placed 15th in the 16-team field ahead of the University of Connecticut. Utah shot a combined 3-under-par to claim the team title over Portland by six strokes. Portland's Mike McCabe won the tournament with a one-over-par 217 (73-72-72), six strokes ahead of Rice's Scott Philips.. Freshman Dan Mirabella (Ann Arbor, MI/Saline) was the second-lowest Colonial with a 86-81-77-244, three strokes behind Carroll. Senior Michael Ball (Potomac, MD/Churchill) was the next Colonial finishing in a tie for 60th with a three-round total 245 (83-81-81).
