Golf Places 12th at Bearkat Classic

HUNTSVILLE, TX -- GW's Brian Carroll (Crystal Lake, IL/Crystal Lake South) fired a 74-73-76--223 to tie for 11th place among 86 golfers in the Bearkat Classic, Friday-Saturday at the par-71, 6,945-yard Raven Nest Golf Club in Huntsville, TX. The Colonials placed 12th in the 17-team field. McNeese State won the 54-hole tournament with a combined 875, 10 strokes ahead of second-place Stephen F. Austin (885) and 14 strokes better than host Sam Houston State (889). Stephen F. Austin's Trevor Sauntry won the tournament with a on-over-par 214, one stroke ahead of Brian Norman of Southern Illinois. Sauntry shot a first-round 69. GW sophomore Jack Tyler (Novi, MI/Novi) was the second-lowest Colonial with a 72-74-81--227. GW next plays in the William & Mary Invitational, Sunday-Monday, Mar. 20-21, at the Golden Horseshoe Club in Williamsburg, VA. Colonials' individual scores (86 total golfers):
