GW Golf Places Fourth at William & Mary Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, VA - GW's Brian Carroll (Crystal Lake, IL/Crystal Lake South) fired a 75-73-148 to tie for seventh in the William & Mary Invitational, Monday-Tuesday at the par-71, 6,769-yard Kingsmill River Course in Williamsburg, VA. The Colonials placed fourth in the 22-team field, up from 16th in the same event last year. Georgetown shot a combined 589 to claim the team title over Richmond by three strokes. Old Dominion was third with a team total 602. Navy's Billy Hurley won the tournament with a one-under-par 141 after carding a five-under 66 in Tuesday's second round. GW sophomore Andrew Gallo (Thornhill, Ont./Crescent) was the second-lowest Colonial with a 74-75-149, just one stroke behind Carroll. Freshman Jack Tyler (Novi, MI/Novi) tied for 60th with a two-round total 158 (75-83). GW next hosts the Sixth Annual GW Invitational, Mar. 27-28, at Swan Point Country Club in Issue, MD.
