GW Golf Takes Home Sixth at Keith Hills Spring Intercollegiate
Sophomore Jonathan Dresnick Paces Colonials With 13-Over 226

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Playing its first event in three weeks, the George Washington golf team finished sixth out of eight teams at the Keith Hills Spring Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
The Colonials shot team totals of 306 and 308 in Rounds 2 and 3, respectively, for a 54-hole score of 59-over par 911 at the par-71, 6,609-yard Keith Hills Country Club. Gardner-Webb claimed the team title with a three-round 6-over 858, and Campbell’s Amanjyot Singh took home medalist honors with a combined score of 2-under 211 in the field of 60 competitors.
Host Campbell finished second with a three-round 11-over 863 and James Madison came in third at 32-over 884. Jacksonville finished fourth at 38-over 890, followed by Laval University from Quebec in fifth with a 41-over 893. St. Francis (Pa.) finished behind the Colonials in seventh with a 77-over 929 and Hampton rounded out the pack with a 153-over 1,005.
GW was paced by sophomore Jonathan Dresnick, who fired 6-over 77 in both Rounds 2 and 3 to finish with a combined 13-over 226 and tie for 31st. Freshman Carlos Pena also shot consecutive rounds of 6-over 77 to finish one stroke behind Dresnick in 33rd place with a 14-over 227.
Sophomore Jack Persons finished in a tie for 34th after carding 4-over 75 and 6-over 77 on Tuesday for a three-round score of 15-over 228. Freshman Michael Helton followed in a tie for 39th with combined total of 18-over 231 after shooting a 6-over 77 and a 7-over 78 through Rounds 1 and 2. Fellow freshman Howard Hickey shot a 7-over 78 and a 6-over 77 for a total score of 21-over 234 to tie for 45th.
GW returns to the links on Monday, April 8 at the two-day Grub Mart Intercollegiate at the Silver Lake Golf Club in Gadsden, Ala.
