GW Golf in 10th After Round 2 of Grub Mart Intercollegiate

Freshman Steve Piela is tied for 33rd with a two-round score of 12-over par 156.

Rounds 1 & 2 Team Results | Rounds 1 & 2 Individual Results

– The George Washington golf team is in 10th place after two rounds and 36 holes of the two-day Grub Mart Intercollegiate at the Silver Lakes Golf Course.

The Colonials combined for a team score of 53-over par 629 after carding a 316 and a 313 through Rounds 1 and 2, respectively, at the par-72, 6,886-yard Silver Lakes Golf Course. Freshman Howard Hickey leads GW with a two-round score of 4-over 148 and is in a three-way tie for fifth place.

Host Jacksonville State’s ‘A’ team leads the 10-team field with a combined team score of 7-over 583, and the Gamecocks’ Tomasz Anderson paces all 56 players with a 36-hole score of 6-under 138. Columbus State sits in second with a 17-over 593, North Alabama is in third with a 23-over 599 and Armstrong Atlantic is fourth with a 29-over 605. Lipscomb is in fifth place with a 37-over 613, followed by Morehead State in sixth with a 44-over 620, Jacksonville State’s ‘B’ team in seventh with a 48-over 624, Northern Kentucky in eighth with a 49-over 625 and Eastern Kentucky in ninth with a 50-over 626.

Colonials’ freshman Steve Piela follows Hickey in a tie for 33rd with a two-round score of 12-over 156, and sophomore Jack Persons is in 40th place, two strokes behind Piela, with a 15-over 159. Freshman Carolos Pena shot a 22-over 166 and is in 53rd place, and sophomore Jonathan is in 54th with a 24-over 168.



GW tees off from the 10th hole for the final round of 18 on Tuesday at 7:30 a.m.
