Golf Wins Princeton Invitational
April 10, 2005 PRINCETON, NJ - The George Washington golf team shot a three-round 881 to edge host Princeton in the 2005 Princeton Men's Golf Invitational Friday and Saturday at the par-71, 6,390-yard Springdale Golf Club. The Colonials shot rounds of 297, 292 and 292 to finish +29 for the tournament, just a shot ahead of Princeton's 882 (306-284-292). Maryland's John Eades took the top individual spot. Saint Joseph's was third while Towson and Maryland completed the top five in the 17-team field. GW sophomore Jack Tyler carded a three-over-par 216 (71-72-73) to place third out of 90 golfers, two strokes ahead of Brian Carroll's 218 (76-72-70) which tied for sixth place. GW next hosts the 36-hole Bethany Beach Invitational Monday, April 11 at Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club on the Delaware shore.
