CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA -- GW sophomore Brian Carroll fired an even-par 216 (71-71-73) to pace the Colonials at the 54-hole Andrea Brotto Classic Friday and Saturday at the par-72, 6,875-yard Birdwood Golf Course in Charlottesville, VA. GW shot a team total 905 and placed ninth in the 11-team tournament hosted by the University of Virginia. The University of North Carolina-Wilmington won the tournament with a six-over-par total 870 (287-290-293).
Italy's Andrea Signor won the tournament with a three-under 213 (68-71-74) after defeating North Carolina's Dustin Bray in the first hole of a sudden-death playoff. Furman's T.J. Blandford was one stroke off the pace with a 214 (72-67-75) including a second-round 67, the low round of the tournament.
GW now prepares for the Atlantic 10 Championship, this Friday-Sunday, at Middletown, RI.
