Golf Places Sixth at Atlantic 10 Championship

KETTERING, OH - GW freshman Federico Guzman (Bogota, Colombia/Colegio Nueva Granada) shot a three-round 224 (75-75-74) to tie for fifth at the Atlantic 10 Conference men's golf championship Friday through Sunday, May 2-4, at the par-71, 6,733-yard NCR Country Club South Course near Dayton, OH. By virtue of his top-six finish, Guzman was named to the 2003 All-Conference team. GW placed sixth in the 11-team field with a team total 914 (303-306-305) 19 strokes behind tournament champion Xavier (895). The Musketeers won the team title for the second time in three years and their third title overall. Saint Joseph's Billy Stewart won individual honors with a two-over-par 215. Saint Joseph's coach Bob Lynch was named the league's Coach of the Year. Senior Michael Ball (Potomac, MD/Churchill) was a stroke behind Guzman with a 225 (74-74-77) to tie for eighth.
