Golf Places Third at Navy Fall Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, MD - GW's Andrew Gallo (Toronto, Ontario/Crescent) shot a two-day 142 (72-70) to place in a three-way tie for seventh in the Navy Fall Invitational Saturday and Sunday at Annapolis, MD. GW placed third with a team total 584 (303-302) at the par-71, 6,611-yard Naval Academy Golf Course. GW's 584 was 21 strokes lower than last year's showing at the Invitational and Gallo shaved five strokes off his score at last year's Navy Fall Invitational where he tied for 19th place. GW freshman Jack Tyler (Novi, MI/Novi) had impressive showing in his first college event carding a first-round 69 en route to a 36-hole 143 and a tie for 10th place among 74 individuals. Transfer Brandon Muir (Tucson, AZ/Canyon del Oro/ULM) also placed in the Top 20 with a 73-73-146 placing him in a tie for 18th. Georgetown totalled a 565 (280-285) to win the tournament with Towson posting a 579 for second place. GW edged Winthop by two strokes and the host Midshipmen by three strokes. Navy's Billy Hurley (69-61) won medalist honors with a 12-under-par 130.
