Golf Places 18th at James Madison Invitational

HARRISONBURG, VA -- GW freshmen Brian Carroll (Crystal Lake, IL/Crystal Lake South) shot a six-over-par 219 (72-76-71) to tie for 35th in the James Madison Invitational Saturday and Sunday in Harrisonburg, VA. GW placed 18th with a team total 891 (295-299-297) at the par-71, 6,496-yard Lakeview Golf Course.

Fellow freshman Andrew Gallo (Toronto, Ontario/Crescent) who was tied with Gallo after two rounds, dropped into a tie at 71st with a third-round 78. Freshman Federico Guzman (Bogota, Colombia/Colegio Nueva Granada) closed out the tournament with a 72 to tie for 52nd.

Penn State totalled a 32-under-par 820 (280-269-271) to win the tournament with the host Dukes of JMU posting a seven-under 845 for second place.

Penn State's Jim Fuller (66-66-65) was the individual winner with a 16-under 197.
