Golf Places Eighth at Adams Cup of Newport

NEWPORT, RI - GW sophomore Brendan Barrack (Toronto, ONT) fired a three-round 220 (71-73-76) to tie for seventh place at the Adams Cup of Newport Monday and Tuesday in Rhode Island. The 54-hole tournament, hosted by the University of Rhode Island, was held at the par-72, 7,244-yard Newport National Golf Club in Newport, RI. The Colonials placed eighth in the 16-team field, three strokes behind Hartford. Barrack parred 40 of the 54 holes and averaged a sub-par 4.67 strokes on the par-5 holes. Colonials' sophomore Max Hamm (Wiesbaden, Germany) tied for 24th place with a 225 (74-77-74) among 84 entrants. Hamm had 10 birdies and one of GW's two eagles in the tournament along with junior Cole Turner. Texas A&M won the team title by three strokes over runner-up Minnesota. The Aggies' Bronson Burgoon took individual medalist honors with a 12-under 204 (69-66-69). The Colonials next play in the 54-hole Louisville Cardinal Classic, Sept. 29-30, at Louisville, KY. The event will take place at the par-72, 7,036-yard Cardinal Club golf course.
