POWELLS POINT, N.C. - Freshman Michael Heda carded an even-par 71 to pace GW golf on the first day of the Old Dominion/OuterBanks Intercollegiate at Kilmarlic Golf Club on Sunday.

GW is tied with Delaware for 13th in the 18-team field after 18 holes with a 24-over 308. The Colonials were fourth in the field on Sunday with 54 combined pars, trailing only VCU (62), Drake (57) and Maryland (55). Elon set the opening-day pace with a 2-over 286 team total on the converted par-71, 6,550-yard Kilmarlic layout.

Heda made 14 pars en route to his second round of par-or-better in his first four competitive collegiate rounds and is in a five-way tie for ninth in the 93-player field.

Junior Jack Persons is in a large group of 13 players tied for 35th following an opening round 4-over 75.

Sophomore Michael Helton is tied for 70th after a 9-over 80 and senior Graham Lawyer is tied for 82nd after an 11-over 82. Freshman Lucas Farmer is in 92nd at 15-over 86.

GW will continue play at the 54-hole ODU/OuterBanks Intercollegiate with 18 holes on Monday and Tuesday.
