GW Golf in 15th Through Round 1 of ODU/Outer Banks Intercollegiate
Oct. 21, 2012 Round 1 Individual Results | Round 1 Team Results | GW_Golf Powells Point, N.C. – The George Washington golf team combined for a 26-over par 314 to sit in 15th place through Round 1 of the 33rd annual three-day Old Dominion/Outer Banks Collegiate Invitational at the par-72, 6,535-yard Kilmarlic Golf Club. Georgia Southern – which is ranked No. 56 in the country by Golfstat, leads the 18-team field with a combined score of 2-over 290, while Old Dominion and Atlantic 10 foe Richmond are tied for second with 7-over 295. League newcomer VCU is in fourth with a 10-over 298 and Elon, George Mason and Radford are tied for fifth with scores of 11-over 299. Delaware sits in eighth with a 15-over 303, followed by Drexel and No. 92 Hartford tied for ninth with 16-over 304. Loyola ( The Bulldogs’ Scott Wolfes leads the pack of 93 with a 6-under 66. Freshman Michael Helton paces the Colonials as he is tied for 25th with a 3-over 75. Sophomore Jack Persons follows in a tie for 32nd just one stroke behind Helton with a 4-over 76. Junior Graham Lawyer is tied for 64th with an 8-over 80 and freshman Steve Piela is tied for 81st with an 11-over 83.
