Golf's Carroll Ties For Second at ODU/Seascape

KITTY HAWK, NC -- The George Washington Golf Team struggled at the 36-hole ODU/Seascape Collegiate golf tournament carding a team total 611 and placing ninth in the 13-team field Tuesday on the outer banks of North Carolina. GW junior Brian Carroll was the low Colonial with an even-par 144 at the par-72, 6,469-yard Seascape Golf Course. Despite Carroll's effort, GW was 22 strokes off the pace set by Virginia Commonwealth which won the tournament for the second straight year with a 589. VCU finished four strokes better than Campbell (593) and six ahead of host Old Dominion (595). All five of VCU's players finished in the top 26, with Jens Fahrbring leading with an 11th place finish at 147. Drexel's Patrick Hardin won the individual title with a 142. He shot a 70 today to win by two strokes over Carroll, Steve Alminas (Winthrop), Jimmy Lytle (Elon) and Scott Manno (JMU) all at 144. FINAL TEAM SCORES Colonials' individual scores (69 total individuals): The tournament marked GW's final competition in the fall portion of the schedule. The Colonials' next competition takes place March 20-21 in the William & Mary Colonial Invitational at the Golden Horseshoe Resort in Williamsburg, VA.
