GW Golf Improves to 19th Through Round 2 of Wendy's Kiawah Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The George Washington golf team improved to 19th place after shooting a 27-over par 311 through Round 2 of the Wendy’s Kiawah Classic on Monday, hosted by Charleston Southern University.

The Colonials combined for a 36-hole score of 50-over 618 to move from 24th-place after Round 1 at the par-71, 7,701-yard Turtle Point Golf Course. Sophomore Jack Persons improved from 60th to a tie for 14th after carding a 1-under 70 on Monday for a total score of 4-over 146.

South Carolina, which is ranked No. 63 in the country by Golfstat, continues to lead the 26-team field with a two-round score of 7-over 568. Stetson’s Dustin Dingus took over the lead after shooting a 2-under 69 on Monday for a combined score of 1-under 141.

GW freshman Howard Hickey is tied for 63rd after shooting a 7-over 78 through Round 1 for a total score of 13-over 155. Classmate Michael Helton carded an identical 8-over 79 on Monday to tie for 85th with a combined score of 16-over 158.

Junior Graham Lawyer is tied for 92nd with a two-round score of 17-over 159 and sophomore Jonathan Dresnick is tied for 115th with a total of 22-over 164.



The Colonials complete the final 18 holes of the Wendy’s Kiawah Classic on Tuesday morning. Fans can follow live scoring via Golfstat.
