Golf Starts Spring Slate at A-10 Match Play Championship

TEEING OFF: The GW golf team starts its spring slate on Monday when it begins play in the Atlantic 10 Match Play Championship in Weston, Florida. The Colonials will have their full roster in competition.

LOOK BACK: In the fall, three Colonials finished with a sub-74 scoring average, led by junior Logan Lowe's 70.13 which is the best of his career. He captured his second career victory in the final event of the semester when he shot a 4-under par at the South Carolina Camden Collegiate Invitational. Redshirt senior Christian Cichan (73.20) and sophomore Adrian Castagnola (73.50) also turned in sub-74 averages.

FORMAT: Individuals for each team play six matches, earning one point for victory in each match and one-half of a point for a tie. The team with the most points will advance to the championship side of the match play. Check out the full bracket here.

FIRST ROUND MATCHES: GW opens play vs. Florida Atlantic and is in the top half of the bracket with Oakland and Saint Joseph's. In the bottom half, George Mason opens with VCU and St. Bonaventure takes on Dayton.

LAST YEAR AT MATCH PLAY: The Colonials finished third, taking victories over George Mason and FAU before falling to the eventual champion Flyers.
