GW Golf to Compete at Keith Hills Spring Intercollegiate

The George Washington golf team returns to action for the first time in three weeks at the Keith Hills Spring Intercollegiate.

- Returning to action for the first time in three weeks, the George Washington golf team heads to Buies Creek, N.C., for the two-day Keith Hills Spring Intercollegiate from Monday-Tuesday, April 1-2.

The 54-hole event hosted by Campbell University consists of 62 competitors from 11 different schools at the par-71, 6,609-yard Keith Hills Country Club. GW will face the host Camels in addition to Gardner-Webb, Hampton, Jacksonville, James Madison, Laval (Quebec) and St. Francis (Pa.), as well as individuals from Liberty, North Carolina and North Carolina State.

The Colonials hit the links for the first time since their sixth-place finish at the Triumph at Pauma Valley on March 12 during their Spring Break trip to California. Sophomore Jack Persons was GW's top finisher at the event with a three-round score of 10-over par 223 to finish in a three-way tie for 11th.

Persons, classmate Jonathan Dresnick and freshmen Michael Helton, Howard Hickey and Michael Helton will compete for the Colonials at the Keith Hills Spring Intercollegiate. As a squad the Buff and Blue have averaged a 23-over 307.6 through seven events.

Dresnick owns an average of 8-over 78.6 through five events while Persons has averaged a 4-over 75.0 having competed in all seven of the Colonials' competitions. A rookie, Hickey has played in two events and shot an average of 8-over 79.2, while classmate Michael Helton, who has competed in four tournaments, averaged a 9-over 79.7. Fellow freshman Pena has also played in four events and averaged an 8-over 79.4.

The shotgun start for the first 36 holes will begin on Monday at 9:00 a.m.
