April 8, 2002

WASHINGTON, DC - GW's Thomas Blankvoort (Curacao, Netherlands Antilles/International School of the Hague) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Performer of the Week for men's golf, the league office has announced. It marks the second time this spring the league has recognized Blankvoort's accomplishments.

Blankvoort shot a two-day 154 (77-77) to place seventh out of 113 individuals in the Navy Spring Invitational Saturday and Sunday in Annapolis, MD. GW placed eighth with a team total 645 (321-324) at the par-71, 6,611-yard Naval Academy Golf Course.

His 73.2 stroke average leads the team, including a school-record five-under-par 67 at the Colonial Intercollegiate on March 26. He has nine Top 20 finishes in 10 tournaments this season.

Next up for the Colonials is the Wesley Invitational April 10 at Dover, DE.
