PHILADELPHIA, PA -- George Washington's Cole Turner (Marion, IN/Lakeview Christian Academy) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Rookie of the Week for men's golf, the league office announced Monday. It marks the second straight weekly award for the Indiana native. He shares this week's award with Richmond's Grant Ratfield.

In the Colonials' only competiton last week, Turner carded a three-over-par 74 (tying teammate Lewis Sturdy) as the low Colonial at the weather-shortened Navy Spring Invitational Friday. Saturday's final round was cancelled after snow blanketed the par-71, 6,528-yard U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course Friday night in Annapolis.

Turner's performance helped the GW Blue team finish seventh in the 25-team field with a combined score of 308. His score was just five strokes off the pace and placed him in a tie for sixth place out of 130 individuals.

It marked the second Top-10 finish this season for the freshman from Marion, IN, and equalled his low 18-hole score. He sports a 78.1 stroke average through 12 rounds in his first season of college golf.

Next up for Turner and the Colonials is the Princeton Invitational, April 14-15, at the par-71, 6,380-yard Springdale Golf Club in Princeton, NJ.
