NEWPORT NEWS, VA -- GW freshman Graham Lawyer has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Rookie of the Week for men's golf, the league office announced Monday. It marks the second rookie honor for GW this season (Benton Kircher also won the honor Mar. 14). Lawyer shares this week's honor with Rhode Island's Andrew Fiorenzano.

Both Lawyer and Fiorenzano tied for 29th out of 104 participants at the Navy Spring Invitational over the weekend. The two freshmen posted identical scores of 155 over the 36-hole tournament. Lawyer shot 77-78 (155), while Fiorenzano fired 78-77 (155) at the par-71, 6,528-yard Naval Academy Golf Course. Lawyer, from Oakton High School in suburban Vienna, VA, parred 23 of the 36 holes at Navy. His 77.6 stroke average ranks fourth on the team in his first season of collegiate competition.

Lawyer and the Colonials will now have two weeks to prepare for the Atlantic 10 Conference championship, April 29-May 1, at the par-72, 7,003-yard El Campeon course at the Mission Inn Resort near Orlando, FL.
