He has played an extensive national tournament schedule. Carroll qualified for the 2000 U.S. Junior and advanced to match play. He played in two American Junior Golf Association events in 2000 and three more in 2001, picking up two top-20 finishes. He also placed 18th at the FCWT's Purdue Classic in 2000 and was invited to the prestigious Doral-Publix Classix in Florida last winter.
He was All-state in 2000, finishing sixth. He finished 37th in the Western Junior in 2001, shooting 75-75-75-76. "Brian is a terrific student," GW coach Scott Allen said. "His extensive tournament experience as well as his experience in other sports should have him well-prepared to play at the Division I level. I fully expect Brian to compete immediately for a for starting spot."
Two more recruits are expected to sign with GW in the coming weeks. The Colonials open their 2002-03 campaign Sept. 7-8 at the U.S. Naval Academy Invitational.
