GW Golf to Host Buff and Blue Alumni Matches on Sept. 28
Event to be Hosted on One of Maryland's Top 10 Courses
Aug 28, 2013
WASHINGTON - The GW golf program will host the Buff and Blue Alumni Matches at The Country Club at Woodmore in Mitchellville, Md., on Saturday, Sept. 28 as part of GW's 2013 Alumni Weekend festivities.
"The GW golf program has been fortunate to have great alumni support in the past and I'm looking forward to meeting many who have donned the Buff and Blue at one of the area's best courses," said first-year Head Coach Chuck Scheinost. "There's no better way to understand and embrace the history of an athletics program than to personally engage with its alumni. I'm excited to meet many alumni and share how we can Raise High the GW golf program to the top of the Atlantic 10."
The event is fourball format pitting odd graduation years against even years. Play will begin with a shotgun start at 11 a.m., and lunch and drinks will be provided during the round.
Attendees will also receive a GW golf shirt as well as a new GW golf hat not currently available in the bookstore or online. The round will be followed by an awards ceremony and appetizers in Woodmore's grill room before the venue shifts to the Charles E. Smith Center's Colonials Club on the Foggy Bottom Campus for the All-Athletics Reception from 4-6 p.m.
Woodmore's Arnold Palmer-designed par-72, 7,059-yard layout was ranked No. 10 in Golf Digest's Best Courses in Maryland rankings for 2013-14 and was the site of this past summer's Maryland State Amateur Championship.
