Golf's Jake McGuigan Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

Colonials Freshman Tied for 14th at Navy Fall Invitational

WASHINGTON, DC -- George Washington's Jake McGuigan (Clones, Ireland/Pendleton School (FL) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for men's golf, the league office has announced.

McGuigan made an impressive collegiate debut by firing a six-over-par 148 in the Navy Fall Invitational, Friday and Saturday, at Annapolis, MD. McGuigan's showing placed him in a tie for 14th place among 81 individuals at the par-71, 6,611-yard Naval Academy Golf Course. McGuigan's perfomance helped GW to a tie for second place in the 16-team tournament.

The native of Ireland carded a 75 on Saturday and fired a round of 73 on Sunday. McGuigan attended high school at the Pendleton School in Bradenton, FL before coming to GW.

GW next hosts the Rehoboth Beach Invitational, Sept. 26, at Kings Creek Country Club in Rehoboth Beach, DE.
