Golf 17th at James Madison Invitational; Colonials Paced by Blankvoort's 148

ANNAPOLIS, MD (Sept. 18, 2000) - GW's Thomas Blankvoort fired a six-over-par 148 (73-75) to tie for 12th among 90 individuals in the James Madison Invitational, Sept. 16-17 in Harrisonburg, VA. As a team, the Colonials were 17th out of 17 teams with a two-round total 620 (+52). GW was 36 strokes off the pace set by champion St. John's. The Red Storm won the tournament with a 584 (+16). The tournament was played at the par-71, 6,496-yard Lakeview Golf Course.

After Blankvoort, the next lowest Colonial was senior Ryan Day who carded a 156 (77-79) which placed him in a six-way tie for 58th place.

T-58th Ryan Day 77-79 -- 156 (+14)
T-69th Bryan Derdenger 80-78 -- 158 (+16)

GW next competes in the SBU-Keenan Classic hosted by St. Bonaventure University, Sept. 24-25, at Bartlett Country Club in Olean, NY.
