WASHINGTON, DC -- George Washington's Tyler Wendelken (Sammamish, WA/Issaquah) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for men's golf, the league office announced Monday.

Playing in just his second collegiate tournament, Wendelken fired a two-round 142 to place second in a field of 65 individuals at the sixth annual Rehoboth Beach Fall Invitational last Monday on the Delaware Shore. The 36-hole tournament, hosted by The George Washington University, was held at the par-71, 6,480-yard Kings Creek C.C. in Rehoboth Beach, DE.

Wendelken's effort, which included a second-round 70, was just three strokes off the pace and helped the Colonials take the top two spots in the final team standings. He played on the Colonials' A team which shot a 586 (294-292) to place second by a stroke to the Colonials' B team in the 13-team field.

The freshman from Sammamish, WA, currently leads the team with a 72.5 stroke average.

GW is playing in the Joe Agee Invitational, Monday and Tuesday, at Stonehouse Golf Course, in Toano, VA, near Williamsburg.
